June 16, Fineko/abc.az. Over Jan-Mar 2026, 2.57 million passengers were transported by rail in Azerbaijan (23.8% more versus Jan-Mar 2025).
ABC.AZ informs that all transported passengers accounted for domestic routes.
Commuter transportation grew faster. In this segment, the number of passengers reached 2.425 million people (year-on-year rise of 24.4%). The number of passengers on domestic flights (except suburban flights) increased from 124,100 up to 143,100 (+15.3%). However, revenues from them decreased from 2.29 million manats to 800,000 manats (-65.1%).
Also, at the end of May, international railway routes from Azerbaijan were resumed for the first time. This is a Baku–Tbilisi–Baku rail route.
At the same time, revenues from passenger transportation by rail dropped. Over Jan-Mar, 2.5 million manats were earned (32.5% less than in the 1st quarter of 2025).
At the same time, revenues from suburban transportation grew up to 1.7 million manats (a rise of 20.2% year-on-year).
