May 12, Fineko/abc.az. After the blocking of the Strait of Hormuz by the United States, the main logistics flows began to shift north, towards the Caspian region.
ABC.AZ reports with reference to The New York Times that currently the key routes pass through the Caspian Sea. Four Iranian ports accept grain, corn, vegetable oil and other cargoes that were previously delivered via the southern route.
The paper says that the Caspian direction turned out to be less vulnerable, since only the Caspian littoral states have access to it. Analysts estimate that shipments along this route could double by the end of the year.
American sources also admit that not only food products, but also industrial components, including parts for drones, will be transported through the Caspian Sea.
Against this background, Iran has temporarily banned the export of food and agricultural products, which previously accounted for more than 60% of supplies to Russia.
Tehran demands from the U.S. to lift the blockade and sanctions, restore oil exports and compensate for the damage suffered. In his turn, Donald Trump has already called these conditions "unacceptable".
