Electricity Generation Down 3%, Wind Power Share Up 22-Fold — Statistics

August 18, Fineko/abc.az. In January-July of this year, wind power plants in Azerbaijan generated 606.4 million kWh of electricity.

According to the State Statistics Committee, this is 22 times higher compared to the same period in 2025.

Total electricity generation in the country stood at 15 billion 172 million kWh during the reporting period (-3% year-on-year). Commercial electricity accounted for 14 billion 734.9 million kWh (-2.5%).

Breakdown by energy sources:

  • Thermal power plants: 11.4415 billion kWh (-8.7%)

  • Hydroelectric power plants: 2.1957 billion kWh (+5.6%)

  • Wind power plants: 606.4 million kWh (22-fold increase)

  • Solar power plants: 350 million kWh (+5%)

  • Waste & biomass energy: 141 million kWh (+6.7%)
