August 14, Fineko/abc.az. Pakistan plans to launch a new overland trade route through Central Asian nations following an agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

The announcement was made by Pakistan's Ambassador to Russia, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, during a press conference. The diplomat noted that finalizing preparations and operationalizing the new transit corridor will take between one year and 18 months.

Currently, cargo trade between Russia and Pakistan primarily relies on maritime routes via the Black Sea and Vladivostok. The upcoming agreement with the EAEU will open direct transit corridors across Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan, as well as Afghanistan and Iran.
