September 26, Fineko/abc.az. The EU has launched an investigation into urea (urea) imports from Russia following complaints from European fertilizer producers that supplies were undermining market prices, ABC.AZ reports, referring to Bloomberg.
Industry association Fertilizers Europe says that Russian exporters benefit from "artificially low government-imposed prices for natural gas", a key raw material for urea production.
This allows them to outbid the prices of competitors from the EU, according to the notification on the initiation of the anti-dumping procedure.
Russia remains one of the largest suppliers of urea to the EU, especially after the cessation of Russian gas supplies forced many European fertilizer plants to shut down.
This dependence raises concerns that Moscow could reduce supply and raise prices, or dump large volumes on the market at dumping prices, harming farmers in the EU.
