17:37 - 21.08.2026

August 21, Fineko/abc.az. Speaking at the General Assembly of the Islamic Medical Association in Tehran, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian addressed the ongoing conflict with the United States. He stated that continuing the war is not an inevitable goal and that hostilities should end while safeguarding the nation's strength and achievements.

Pezeshkian highlighted that ending the conflict at a moment when Iran maintains high prestige and global recognition of its stance is the most strategic course of action. However, he asserted that this does not signify backing down or surrendering under pressure, promising a decisive response to any potential attacks.

The President described the Pakistan-mediated memorandum with the US as "honorable and valuable" for Iran. He noted that the agreement, approved by the Supreme National Security Council, contains no terms of submission and places all primary obligations on the opposing side. Pezeshkian concluded by emphasizing the imperative of national unity.
