Over 4 Million Vehicles Recalled in China — Tesla Accounts for the Main Share

August 21, Fineko/abc.az. Under a regulatory inspection by China's State Administration for Market Regulation, 11 automakers, including Tesla and Xiaomi, have initiated software updates and recalls affecting over 4 million vehicles.

Tesla accounts for the largest share, recalling 2.98 million imported and Chinese-made Model 3, Model Y, Model S, and Model X vehicles. The measures address safety concerns regarding electronically controlled door handles failing during accidents and difficulty locating emergency mechanical release levers.

Nine automakers will install warning labels indicating the location of emergency handles and issue over-the-air (OTA) software updates. Tesla's update will automatically roll down windows following a collision. Other participating brands include Xiaomi, Leapmotor, Xpeng, Zeekr, and Lynk & Co.
