Meat Import Spending Hits $66 Million as Buying Increases

August 20, Fineko/abc.az. According to the State Customs Committee, Azerbaijan bought 28,000 tons of meat from abroad worth $66.1 million during the first seven months of 2026.

Compared to the same period last year, meat import volume grew by 11.3% (2,900 tons), while spending increased by 19.9% ($11 million). Meat accounted for 0.6% of total import costs.

Overall foreign trade rose by 1.3% to $29.216 billion. Exports reached $19.336 billion (up 27%), while imports stood at $9.881 billion (down 27.4%). As a result, the foreign trade surplus reached $9.455 billion, representing a 5.9-fold jump compared to last year.
