August 21, Fineko/abc.az. The UK Flash Composite Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI), compiled by S&P Global, rose to 52.5 in August from 52.2 in July, reaching its highest level in four months.

Sector performance diverged: the Services PMI climbed to a six-month high of 52.8 (up from 52.1 in July), whereas the Manufacturing PMI dropped to 51.5, marking a five-month low.

Chris Williamson, Chief Business Economist at S&P Global Market Intelligence, highlighted that the economy gained momentum in August, reinforcing expectations of approximately 0.3% GDP growth in the third quarter. However, he noted that elevated energy prices and cost pressures linked to international conflicts remain a primary concern.
