August 21, Fineko/abc.az. In January-July of this year, Azerbaijan exported 97.3 thousand tons of cotton fiber valued at $137.1 million. According to the State Customs Committee, export volumes grew by 21 thousand tons (27.5%) and total value increased by $27.4 million (24.9%) compared to the same period last year.

During the reporting period, revenue from cotton fiber exports accounted for 0.7% of Azerbaijan's total export earnings.

Overall, Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover grew by 1.3% year-on-year in the first seven months, reaching $29 billion 216 million. Exports accounted for $19 billion 336 million (up 27%), while imports stood at $9 billion 881 million (down 27.4%). Consequently, the foreign trade surplus reached $9 billion 455 million, representing a 5.9-fold increase compared to the previous year.
