Azerbaijan Reduces Butter Imports as Foreign Trade Surplus Surges 5.9-Fold

August 21, Fineko/abc.az. According to the State Customs Committee, Azerbaijan imported 15,100 tonnes of butter and other milk-derived fats worth $94.6 million in January–July 2026. Compared to the same period last year, imports declined by 1,500 tonnes (9.3%) in volume and $19.1 million (16.7%) in value. During the reporting period, these products accounted for 0.9% of the country’s total imports.

Over the seven-month period, Azerbaijan’s total foreign trade turnover grew by 1.3% year-on-year to reach $29.216 billion. Exports accounted for $19.336 billion, while imports totaled $9.881 billion. With exports rising by 27% and imports dropping by 27.4% over the past year, the foreign trade surplus expanded 5.9-fold to reach $9.455 billion.
