June 3, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan has reached an agreement with Russia and Iran on introduction of e-Permit system in the field of international cargo transportation.
ABC.AZ informs that Subkhan Abilov, Director of the Freight Transportation Department of the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA) under the Ministry of Digital Development & Transport, made the relevant statement at the II Caspian International Forum on Transport, Transit and Logistics in Baku.
According to Abilov, Azerbaijan plays an important role not only as a transit country, but also as an active participant in international cargo transportation.
"Azerbaijan has the opportunity to carry out international cargo transportation in 52 countries, from Mongolia and China to the UK. We are actively involved in these shipments. In addition, significant work has been done in the country to digitalize the industry. All cargo transportation services have already been converted to electronic format," Abilov said.
He stressed that one of the key issues in this area remains the exchange of permits from foreign countries that are used in international transportation.
"Hundreds of thousands of such documents are exchanged annually, which are issued to carriers and drivers for international cargo transportation. An agreement has been reached with Russia and Iran, which are among our largest transport destinations, on introduction of e-Permit system," AYNA representative said.
