October 10, Fineko/abc.az. The Ministry of Taxes of Azerbaijan reports about growth of trade turnover in the country as a result of the expansion of the tax base.

Tax Minister Mikayil Jabbarov has stated that as a result of measures aimed to combat the shadow economy, expand the tax base and ensure business transparency, the turnover of the nonoil sector increased by 7.1% up to AZN 44 bn.

"Country’s trade turnover grew by 18.4%, including retail trade by 27.9%, and this dynamics could be considered as an early sign of transparency. In order to allow taxpayers to bring their accounting documents in order, the number of on-site tax audits has been reduced three-fold," the minister said.
