August 19, Fineko/abc.az. Turkish Trade Minister Ömer Bolat evaluated the country's economic milestones and global challenges during a consultation meeting in Aksaray.
He stated that over the past 23.5 years, Türkiye increased its national income sixfold in dollar terms and its exports of goods and services eightfold, while adding 11 million extra jobs to reach a total employment of 32.7 million.
Bolat highlighted the impact of severe global and regional crises, noting that energy import bills surged to $100 billion following the Russia-Ukraine war, and the Kahramanmaraş earthquakes cost the state budget $105 billion over 3.5 years. Additionally, ongoing conflicts in the Gulf region continue to keep energy, fertilizer, and petrochemical prices elevated.
Despite these geopolitical and financial burdens, the Minister noted that Türkiye has successfully maintained economic stability and is approaching the final stages of earthquake reconstruction efforts. Bolat emphasized that upcoming policies will prioritize improving public welfare and expanding the nation's economic output.
