June 17, Fineko/abc.az. The Alat Free Economic Zone is at the stage of formation as a regional logistics center.

ABC.AZ reports that Alat FEZ chairman of board Valeh Alekperov made the above-said statement at the 20th Global Forum on Islamic Finance of the IDB, organized as part of the annual meeting of the Islamic Development Bank Group in Baku.

He noted that any proposals are open for consideration, but priority is given to production areas that create high added value and are export-oriented:

"Export-oriented production means that enterprises operating in the territory of the Alat FEZ undertake to export at least 75% of the products made here outside of Azerbaijan. The main purpose of this approach is to prevent emergence of unequal competitive conditions between residents of the Alat FEZ and enterprises operating in the main economy of the country.

Practice shows that the success of the Alat FEZ directly depends on its attractiveness in comparison with other free economic zones in the region and a wider geography. That is why serious work has been done to create a zone that meets international standards, is competitive and attractive to investors," he emphasized.
