Belgium Increases Russian LNG Imports Following Qatari Supply Disruptions

08:09 - 3.08.2026

August 4, Fineko/abc.az. According to Bloomberg, Belgium has become increasingly reliant on Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports following the halt of shipments from Qatar due to escalating conflict in the Middle East.

The country continues to receive Russian fuel from the Yamal LNG project via the Zeebrugge terminal.

This growing dependence underscores Europe’s energy vulnerabilities as the EU works toward a complete phase-out of Russian gas by 2027, while ongoing Middle Eastern instability complicates diversification efforts.
