August 6, Fineko/abc.az. Global gold exchange-traded funds (ETFs) recorded $3 billion in net inflows in July following two consecutive months of outflows, according to the World Gold Council (WGC).
This recovery pushed total assets under management (AUM) up 1% to $530 billion, with physical gold holdings rising by 23 tonnes to 4,068 tonnes. Year-to-date net inflows into global gold funds have now reached $11 billion (39 tonnes).
European funds drove the July rebound, capturing $2.1 billion in fresh capital led by the UK (+$875 million) and Switzerland (+$657 million), as investors capitalized on the pullback toward the $4,000/oz level. Asian funds maintained their year-to-date lead with $616 million in inflows, spurred by safe-haven demand in China amid equity market volatility. However, average daily trading volume dropped 3,5% to $356 billion in July, with analysts citing ongoing headwinds from high bond yields, a strong US dollar, and Middle East conflict risks.
