June 30, Fineko/abc.az. After the recent attacks by Iran, shipping through the Strait of Hormuz increased for the first time: nearly 24 vessels, including oil and gas tankers, passed through it on June 29.
ABC.AZ reports that the return of supertankers and the increase in traffic (up to ~11 million barrels) indicate that shipowners have regained confidence amid a temporary decrease in tensions between Iran and the U.S.
Despite the positive trend, traffic is still below pre-war levels. At that, the possibility of imposing a fee for passing through the Strait is being discussed, and the Gulf countries are gradually recovering their oil and gas production.
