Russia, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan Work on Rail and Road Routes to the Indian Ocean

August 20, Fineko/abc.az. Russia, alongside Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, is actively exploring options to extend railway connections through Afghanistan and Pakistan to the Indian Ocean, according to Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin.

Khusnullin noted that the Russian Ministry of Transport, together with Central Asian partners, is also working on a parallel highway route running through Uzbekistan and Afghanistan to provide access to the Indian Ocean via the eastern Caspian bypass corridor.
