Under a joint directive issued by the market regulator and key government ministries, carmakers must conduct comprehensive inspections covering product durability, new technology validation, cybersecurity, and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), submitting full reports by the end of 2026. The move follows a record-breaking announcement on August 21, when Tesla and eight domestic EV manufacturers launched recalls for 4.3 million vehicles over emergency door-release mechanisms.

The measures signal an increasingly assertive regulatory approach as China's automotive industry shifts its focus away from aggressive price wars toward improving build quality and long-term global competitiveness.
