August 28, Fineko/abc.az. The University of Michigan's US Consumer Sentiment Index was revised upward to 51.7 in the final August reading, up from the preliminary estimate of 51.

Despite the upward revision, the index dropped by 3.5 points compared to July's reading of 55.2. The Current Economic Conditions Index fell by 2.9 points to 51.9, while the Consumer Expectations Index declined by 3.9 points to 51.5.

Joanne Hsu, Director of Consumer Surveys, noted that ongoing concerns over high inflation and geopolitical tensions leading to expected fuel price hikes continue to weigh on consumer sentiment. Meanwhile, short-term inflation expectations edged down to 4% from 4.2%.
