June 18, Fineko/abc.az. The Green Transition creates new investment opportunities in Azerbaijan.
ABC.Deputy Economy Minister Anar Akhundov stated this during the panel discussions organized within the 51st annual meeting of the Islamic Development Bank Group (IsDB) in Baku.
According to Akhundov, the Green Transition is not only an environmental priority for Azerbaijan, but also a great investment opportunity: "According to the signed agreements, by 2030 it is planned to build wind and solar power plants with total capacity of 6 gigawatts, and by 2032 this figure is expected to increase to 8 gigawatts. Several projects have already been launched, and energy storage solutions (battery systems) are also being explored. At the same time, Azerbaijan is promoting regional green energy connectivity initiatives aimed at connecting the South Caucasus and the wider Caspian region with European energy markets, including cable projects for green energy in the Black and Caspian Seas. These initiatives open up opportunities not only in the production of renewable energy sources, but also in transmission infrastructure, equipment manufacturing, engineering, green industrial zones and related supply chains."
