June 16, Fineko/abc.az. 150 million young people remain excluded from economic development in the member countries of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Group.
ABC.AZ informs that Idrissa Dia, Head of the IDB Regional Department for North Africa and Central Asia, made the above-said statement at an event within the annual meeting of the IDB Group in Baku.
According to Dia, the topic discussed today requires special attention.
"Currently, the 57 member countries of the bank have the largest number of young people in history, which is huge potential that needs to be properly realized in order to create a more optimistic future. But first, let's turn to the numbers. Every fifth young person in the world does not receive an education, does not work or does not undergo professional training, which demonstrates the seriousness of the problem. In the IDB member countries, this figure means approximately 150 million people excluded from the process of economic development. They are deprived of the opportunity to contribute to society, and this should be a matter of serious concern," he said.
