July 1, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan has strengthened its role as a strategic bridge connecting Europe and Asia.

ABC.AZ informs that Finance Minister Sahil Babayev stated this at the 28th Annual Meeting of the BSTDB Board of Governors.

He added that in recent years, Azerbaijan has consistently pursued reforms aimed at diversifying the economy, strengthening fiscal stability, digital transformation, and promoting economic growth, with the private sector playing a leading role:

"At the same time, the country has further strengthened its role as a strategic bridge connecting Europe and Asia through sustainable investments in transportation, logistics, and communication infrastructure. Despite the challenging geopolitical and economic conditions, the BSTDB has maintained its stability, expanded its operations, and continued to successfully fulfill its development mandate in the region."

The minister noted that the results achieved by the Bank last year are encouraging:

"The approval of 31 new projects with total value of more than €668 million (a rise of approx. 81% against the previous year), expansion of the operational portfolio to approx. €1.5 billion, and bank's strong financial performance further demonstrate its relevance and effectiveness as a regional development institution. These achievements are an indicator of significant progress made in the first year of Phase 2 of BSTDB’s medium-term strategy and business plan for 2025-2026. At that, they demonstrate Bank's ability to remain committed to its development mission while flexibly and effectively responding to the changing needs of its member countries."
