June 13, Fineko/abc.az. A coalition of US state attorneys general has launched a comprehensive multi-state investigation into OpenAI, scrutinizing the artificial intelligence pioneer over user safety protocols, misleading commercial practices, and data harvesting triggers.
According to ABC.AZ, navigating the ongoing regulatory enforcement action:
Subpoena Mandates: The New York Attorney General’s office issued an official civil investigative demand to OpenAI, forcing the company to hand over proprietary documentation regarding consumer data processing, advertising execution, and specialized safeguards implemented for minors and senior citizens.
Florida’s Landmark Lawsuit: This regulatory probe follows a massive 83-page civil lawsuit filed by the State of Florida in early June against OpenAI and its CEO, Sam Altman. The complaint accuses the firm of pursuing an aggressive market roll-out of ChatGPT while systematically sidelining internal and external safety warnings.
An OpenAI spokesperson confirmed to The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) that the company takes the administrative concerns raised by state prosecutors highly seriously and is actively cooperating with the ongoing inquiries.
