August 25, Fineko/abc.az. US e-commerce giant Amazon is facing a class-action lawsuit filed on behalf of millions of content creators.

The complaint alleges that broadcasts on the Amazon-owned platform Twitch were used to train artificial intelligence models without the creators' permission or compensation. Filed by Connecticut-based streamer Warren Pandiscia, the lawsuit highlights a breach of the user agreement and demands a court order to halt the practice, along with financial compensation for damages.

Although Twitch announced in August that user content could be used in AI projects and offered an opt-out feature, the move sparked strong backlash among platform users. Company officials stated that audio recordings were processed to improve speech-to-text models and automatic captioning systems, but neither Amazon nor Twitch has issued an official statement regarding the pending lawsuit. Notably, creators streamed over 215 million hours of content on the platform during the early months of this year alone.
