Relations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, rooted in friendship, brotherhood and mutual trust, have continued to develop successfully, reaching a new stage. The high-level meetings held and important documents signed during President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev’s official visit to Uzbekistan once again confirm the strategic nature of relations between the two countries.

the “Treaty on Eternal Friendship between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Uzbekistan”, signed during the visit, is regarded as a historic milestone in the development of bilateral relations.

Alongside political dialogue, cooperation between the two countries is expanding across trade, investment, energy, construction, agriculture, transport and other sectors. The threefold increase in bilateral trade turnover over the past five years, together with a portfolio of joint projects exceeding USD 5 billion, demonstrates the strong momentum of the economic relations.

Energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan is also developing dynamically and entering a new phase. In recent years, the two countries have implemented major joint projects in both conventional and renewable energy.

The high level of bilateral dialogue provides favourable conditions for the development of new initiatives in the production and transportation of energy resources, as well as the introduction of green technologies. The partnership with Uzbekistan in the field of green energy encompasses solar, wind and hydropower projects aimed at advancing sustainable energy development in Central Asia and the Caspian region.

Against the backdrop of this active cooperation, ties between the business communities of the two countries are also strengthening. This trend is clearly reflected in the participation of Uzbek companies in international trade exhibitions held in Baku. These exhibitions provide Uzbek companies with an important platform to showcase their products and services in the Azerbaijani market, establish direct contacts with local and international partners, and explore new opportunities for cooperation.

In 2025, Uzbekistan was represented by a total of 24 companies at exhibitions organised in Azerbaijan by Caspian Event Organisers and Iteca Caspian. Participants included Uzbekneftegaz JSC, Uzpromstroymateriali, Basalt Uzbekistan, Trade Development Company JSC and other leading Uzbek companies operating across a range of sectors. During the exhibitions, these companies presented their products and services in the oil and gas, energy, construction, road infrastructure, transport, healthcare, logistics and other key sectors, while discussing potential areas of partnership with local and international business representatives.

Uzbek companies also actively participate in Baku Energy Week. Uzbekneftegaz, Uzbekistan’s largest state-owned company engaged in geological exploration and the production, transportation, storage, processing and sale of oil and gas, is represented at the event with its own stand every year. Continuing this tradition, the company participated in the Caspian Oil & Gas exhibition also in 2026.

 

In addition, last year Uzbekistan took part in Caspian Construction Week with a national pavilion, bringing together the country’s companies operating in the relevant sectors and presenting its export potential within a unified exhibition space.

Uzbek companies will continue to be represented at international exhibitions held in Azerbaijan during the 2026 exhibition season. Companies including Trade Development Company JSC and RAV Express will participate in the BakuBuild exhibition.

The active participation of Uzbek companies in Azerbaijan’s international exhibitions reflects the strengthening political, economic and business ties between the two countries. High-level political relations and the favourable environment created for cooperation open up new opportunities for Uzbekistan to be represented by a greater number of companies and across a broader range of sectors in future exhibition seasons.
