June 11, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan has become a transport hub, ABC.AZ informs, quoting Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov.
According to the minister, this is a great achievement.
"Because, given our geographical location, that is, lack of access to the open sea, transformation of our country into a transport hub both within the Middle Corridor and on the North-South route did not happen by itself. This is the result of a long-term policy, and much of the potential that this opens up is still not fully realized.
An integrated approach is being realized in tourism, from attracting foreign visitors to developing domestic infrastructure.
I would single out two more areas not so much as separate industries, but rather as fundamental conditions. One of them is digitalization, as well as related information and communication technologies and data processing centers. Because we already consider digitalization not as a separate sector of the economy, but rather as a necessary condition for successful economic activity. Another area is, of course, energy. I particularly emphasize the energy sector as a whole, and not the oil and gas sector, since it is also one of the necessary conditions for the functioning of almost all sectors of the economy. From this angle, we also consider these industries to be a priority."
