September 22, Fineko/abc.az. The Turkish authorities have lifted several additional import duties for goods from the U.S., which had been in effect since 2018.

ABC.AZ informs that the relevant decision was published in official government media Resmi Gazete.

The cancellation affected 33 product names. In particular, additional duties on alcoholic beverages, cars, tobacco, cosmetics have been lifted.

According to the Turkish Ministry of Trade, the decision was made following "successful and effective negotiations".

"We will continue to work and implement policies to achieve a trade volume of $100 billion, which is one of the main goals in economic relations between Turkey and the United States," the Ministry said.

The decision to lift additional duties was made against the background of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's visit to the U.S. He will take part in the events of the UN General Assembly in New York, and on September 25 in Washington, he will hold talks with American leader Donald Trump.

Ankara imposed additional duties on American goods in 2018 during Trump's first term as president. This was a response to America's increase in fees for several items of imports from Turkey.
