Azerbaijan’s Black Caviar Exports Surge 2.5-Fold, Reaching New European Markets

August 24, Fineko/abc.az. In January-June 2026, Azerbaijan exported 0.9 tons of black caviar (sturgeon caviar) valued at $905,000.

According to calculations based on State Statistics Committee data, exports grew 2.5-fold in value terms and 2.6-fold in volume compared to the same period last year.

Russia and the UAE led the list of key buyers. The breakdown of black caviar exports by destination during the reporting period is as follows:

  • Russia: $168,000 (0.2 tons) — no supplies in the previous year

  • UAE: $148,600 (0.15 tons) — 0.6% drop in value, 7% increase in volume

  • Qatar: $120,000 (0.1 tons) — no supplies in the previous year

  • USA: $116,700 (0.2 tons) — 50% increase in value, 42% in volume

  • Duty-Free Stores: $90,700 (0.05 tons) — 30% increase in value, 25% in volume

A noteworthy highlight of the report is the expansion into European markets. For the first time in 15 years (since 2011), Azerbaijan exported black caviar to the Netherlands ($47,400 / 0.05 tons) and Italy ($3,200 / 0.01 tons).
