October 16, Fineko/abc.az. Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba has unveiled an updated version of its artificial intelligence-based automatic translation tool, which the company claims is superior to products from Google, DeepL and ChatGPT.
ABC.AZ reports, referring to Alibaba International .that this new instrument, named Marco MT, was evaluated based on the Flores benchmark.
According to CNBC, the new version of the tool uses only large language models, which allows you to take into account contextual cues such as cultural or industry terms. According to Kaifu Zhang, vice president of Alibaba International Digital Commerce Group, the purpose of the tool is to remove the language barrier for sellers and buyers, which in turn will have a beneficial effect on the platform.
The tool supports translation into 15 languages, including Arabic, Chinese, English, German, Spanish and others. High demand for the product is expected in Europe and America, as well as in emerging markets.
Alibaba's international business includes platforms such as AliExpress and Lazada, which are primarily aimed at Southeast Asia. In June, Alibaba's international division reported sales growth of 32% to $4.03 billion, while domestic sales through Taobao and Tmall fell by 1%.
