Trade Turnover Between Azerbaijan and Russia Drops to $2.1 Billion

August 28, Fineko/abc.az. In January–July of this year, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Russia amounted to $2,109,757,000. According to the State Customs Committee, this marks a decrease of $959,968,000 (31.2%) compared to the same period last year.

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan's exports to Russia increased by 3.9% year-on-year to $749,550,000, while imports plunged by 42% to $1,360,207,000. Trade operations with Russia accounted for 7.2% of Azerbaijan's total foreign trade turnover. Specifically, exports to Russia represented 3.8% of total exports, while imports from Russia accounted for 13.7% of total imports.

Over the 7-month period, Azerbaijan's total foreign trade turnover grew by 1.3% year-on-year to $29,216,000,000. Exports accounted for $19,336,000,000, while imports stood at $9,881,000,000. Over the past year, exports rose by 27% as imports dropped by 27.4%, resulting in a positive trade surplus of $9,455,000,000 — a 5.9-fold increase compared to the previous year.
