Economic Sentiment Index in Eurozone Rises to 98.4 Points

August 28, Fineko/abc.az. The Economic Sentiment Indicator (ESI) in the Eurozone increased by 1.3 points month-on-month in August, reaching 98.4 points.

According to the business and consumer survey results released by the European Union (EU) Commission, the ESI in the EU also rose by 1 point to 98.2 points. Market expectations for the Eurozone stood at 97.5 points, meaning the actual figure significantly outperformed predictions. Consequently, economic sentiment in both the EU and the Eurozone has grown for four consecutive months, approaching the long-term average of 100 points.

The increase was primarily driven by higher confidence in industry, services, and retail trade, while confidence in construction and among consumers remained broadly stable. Consumer confidence in the Eurozone edged up from -15.9 to -15.5, and in the EU from -15.1 to -15.
