Azerbaijan reports decline by 10.3% on tourist arrivals

July, Fineko/abc.az. In the 1st half of this year, 1.92 million foreign citizens and stateless persons arrived in Azerbaijan from 189 countries (10.3% less against Jan-Jun 2025).

The State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan informs that 28.1% of the arrivals were citizens of Russia, 21% - Turkey, 8.2% - Iran, 4.9% - Georgia, 4.6% - Kazakhstan, 3.2% - Uzbekistan, 2.9% - Pakistan, 2.8% - India, 2.6% - Israel, 2.4% - China, 1.8% - Saudi Arabia Saudi Arabia, 1.6% - Ukraine, 1.3% - Turkmenistan, by 1.1% - Germany and Great Britain. Citizens of other countries and stateless persons made up 12.4%. Men made up 68.7% and women - 31.3%.

Over Jan-Jun 2026, the number of arrivals from European Union member states increased by 9.3% up to 54,400 and the number of arrivals from the CIS countries by 1.8% up to 430,400. The number of arrivals from the Gulf countries decreased by 31.4% to 127,700 people and from other countries by 14.1% to 480,100 people.

Of the foreign citizens and stateless persons who arrived in Azerbaijan, 71.1% traveled by air, 27.5% by rail and road, and 1.4% by sea.

The total number of Azerbaijani citizens who traveled abroad fell by 5.1% to 937,400 people. Of them, 41.5% visited Turkey (a rise of 3.5% versus Jan-Jun 2025), 17.1% visited Russia (a drop of 3%), 11.7% visited Georgia (a rise of 0.2%), 6.2% visited Iran (a drop of 41%), and 23.5% visited other countries (a drop of 7.7%). Men made up 66.5% and women - 33.5%.

Over Jan-Jun 2026, 69.8% of Azerbaijani citizens who traveled abroad used air transport, 28.1% used rail and road transport, and 2.1% used sea transport.
