Gas prices in Europe surge above $750 first time since March amid tensions in Middle East

July 23, Fineko/abc.az. Gas exchange prices in Europe have increased above $750 per 1,000 cu m for the first time since the end of March. The rise continues amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East and concerns about the stability of LNG supplies.

August futures on the largest European gas hub, TTF in the Netherlands, reached $754.5 per 1,000 cu m in the morning, the highest level since March 23. In March, quotes already rose above $850 after a reduction in LNG production in Qatar.

Despite the subsequent decline in prices in April-June, gas has once again turned to growth. However, current levels remain significantly lower than the record highs of spring 2022, when the price exceeded $3,800 per 1,000 cu m.
