July 23, Fineko/abc.az. Global gold prices stabilized at $4,133 per ounce, holding near the 2-week high amid escalation of the conflict in the Middle East and growth in oil prices.
Despite the demand for protective assets, investors' attention is focused on the upcoming meeting of the US Federal Reserve next week, which is holding back further price growth. A more than 1.5% jump in oil prices has heightened inflation concerns, pushing the yield on 2-year U.S. government bonds to a 17-month high.
Meanwhile, NOVAGOLD Resources announced an agreement with Paulson Advisors to create a $4.2 billion gold mining giant.
Among other metals, silver is traded at $59.78, platinum at $1,646.57, and palladium at $1,296.50 per ounce.
