21:08 - 15.07.2026

July 15, Fineko/abc.az. The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has released its "Tourism Trends and Policies 2026" report.

According to the publication, international tourist arrivals to OECD countries rose by an estimated 3.4% year-on-year in 2025, reaching a record-breaking 847 million. Comparing the pre-pandemic era to the present (2019–2025), Japan registered the highest growth in tourist arrivals with a 34% surge, followed by Norway (+28%) and Denmark (+22%).

Turkey secured the 4th spot globally, expanding its international tourist arrivals by 21% between 2019 and 2025. The OECD highlights that amid ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and rising travel costs, tourists are increasingly shifting toward safer, familiar, and highly cost-effective destinations like Turkey.
