China Holds Benchmark Lending Rates Steady Amid Subdued Growth

23:23 - 20.07.2026

July 20, Fineko/abc.az. The People's Bank of China (PBOC) maintained its benchmark Loan Prime Rates (LPR) unchanged, keeping the 1-year LPR at 3.0% and the 5-year LPR at 3.5% for the 14th consecutive month.

The decision aligned with market expectations and reflects a cautious policy stance amid slowing economic momentum, with Q2 GDP growth coming in at 4.3%, alongside ongoing real estate weakness and external risks. Despite resilience in export performance, credit demand and domestic consumption remain muted. The central bank continues to balance economic stimulus against inflationary pressures driven by high energy costs and global supply chain disruptions.
