Futures fall amid U.S.-Iran tensions and rising oil

14:45 - 8.07.2026

July 8, Fineko/abc.az. Futures on major US indices are falling due to the escalating conflict between the U.S. and Iran, which threatens stability in the region and oil shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. Rising oil prices are increasing inflationary risks ahead of the Fed's minutes.

By morning, the Dow Jones futures dropped by 0.3%, S&P 500 by 0.2%, and Nasdaq 100 by 0.2%. The market was also affected by Samsung's weak results, which hit the shares of companies related to AI infrastructure. At the same time, capital is partially flowing into large technology and defensive sectors, and the rise in oil is accompanied by an increase in government bond yields.
