July 7, Fineko/abc.az. The price of gold drops below its 2-week peak. Investors are waiting for the minutes of the June meeting of the US Federal Reserve System (Fed) and signals regarding monetary policy from the new chairman of the Fed, Kevin Warsh.
Main prices and market dynamics:
Gold: The price of spot gold fell by 0.6% to $4,138.32 per troy ounce.
Other metals: Silver fell 1% to $61.48 and platinum lost 0.1% to $1,629.46. Palladium, on the other hand, rose 0.4% to $1,272.85.
Rate expectations: According to CME FedWatch, the market estimates the probability of an interest rate hike by the Fed in September at around 56% (before the US employment report, this figure exceeded 60%).
The minutes of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting held on June 16-17 will be published on Wednesday, providing clearer direction for the markets.
