July 7, Fineko/abc.az. The Swedish fintech has submitted applications to the Utah Department of Financial Institutions and the FDIC to establish Klarna Bank USA.

According to the information, the new bank is expected to obtain a state banking license and status as a member of the deposit insurance system, allowing the company to bring its payments, savings, and credit services in-house.

Klarna has operated as a licensed bank in Europe since 2017. In the US, approximately 30 million people use the service annually, and the volume of credit extended to users has reached $91.3 billion. Gary Harding, former head of Milestone Bank and Prime Alliance Bank, has been appointed President and CEO of Klarna Bank USA.
