July 6, Fineko/abc.az. In the rapidly expanding smart glasses market, newcomer Even Realities is stepping up to challenge tech giants. The startup has raised $150 million in a Pre-Series B funding round led by Meituan and Tencent, officially driving its valuation to the $1 billion "unicorn" milestone.
Market Competition and Distinct Strategy:
The "Camera-Free" Approach: While Meta and Snap compete to fit cameras and AI assistants onto users' faces for content capture, Even Realities is taking a different route. To protect privacy, the company's devices completely omit cameras.
Display-Centric Tech: The glasses rely on ultra-lightweight waveguide technology, projecting notifications, navigation, and live translations directly into the user’s line of sight.
Expert Team: Founded in 2023, the Shenzhen-based startup is backed by former Apple engineers (including CEO Will Wang, who worked on iPhone and Apple Watch projects) alongside veterans from luxury eyewear brands.
Global Footprint: Although headquartered and manufactured in China, Even Realities does not sell its products domestically. Its fastest-growing market is the United States (accounting for over 50% of users), followed closely by Japan, South Korea, Europe, and the Middle East. The retail price for the device with optical additions sits near $1,000.
