January 7, Fineko/abc.az. Inflation may keep prices high for holidays in Turkish resort hotels this summer, ABC.AZ informs, quoting Usta Bilginer, the owner of famous Hotel Mehmet.
The Turkish Institute of Statistics (TÜIK) earlier reported that annual inflation in the country exceeded 30%. In its turn, group of independent economists ENAG estimated inflation in December at 2.11% and 56.14% for the full year.
According to Bilginer, dynamics of prices in the field of hotels and restaurants attracted attention in the TÜIK data: with total annual inflation of 30.89%, prices in this category increased by 34.11%.
"Increased operating costs, personnel costs and raw material prices, especially in tourist regions, led to an increase in prices for hotel and restaurant services. Cost pressures may continue in 2026," he said.
