September 11, Fineko/abc.az. From January to August 2025, Azerbaijan’s retail trade network sold goods worth 40.4 billion manats to the population, including 22.2 billion manats in food, beverages, and tobacco products, and 18.2 billion manats in non-food products.
ABC.AZ reports, citing the State Statistics Committee, that retail turnover in real terms increased by 3.7% compared to the same period last year, including a 1.3% rise in food, beverages, and tobacco products and a 6.7% growth in non-food products.
During January–August 2025, of the total amount spent by consumers in retail, 50.7% went to food, 4.3% to beverages and tobacco, 12.9% to textiles, clothing, and footwear, 6.1% to motor gasoline and diesel fuel, 4.8% to electrical goods and furniture, 2.4% to pharmaceuticals and medical supplies, 1.3% to computers, telecommunications equipment, and printed products, and 17.5% to other non-food goods.
The value of goods sold by entities operating in the non-state sector grew by 3.8% in real terms compared to the same period last year, accounting for 99.8% of total retail turnover.
Compared to January–August 2024, retail turnover in January–August 2025 increased by 8% at enterprises, by 1% at individual entrepreneurs, and by 3.9% at markets and fairs.
During the reporting period, the average household spent 493.6 manats per month on retail purchases, including 271.4 manats on food, beverages, and tobacco products and 222.2 manats on non-food products.
