November 21, Fineko/abc.az. The MPs of the Senate (upper house) of the Parliament of Kazakhstan approved the law on ratification of the Treaty on Establishing the International Organization for the Russian Language under the auspices of the CIS.
ABC.AZ reports that the agreement envisages creation of the International Organization for the Russian Language with the status of an intergovernmental association.
"The organization's activities will be regulated by the approved charter and it will not be aimed at making a profit," the Senate Foreign Relations, Defense & Security Committee said in its conclusion.
The implementation of the agreement is aimed at creating conditions for strengthening mutually beneficial international cooperation in supporting and promoting the Russian language as an instrument of interstate communication. The principles of friendship, good neighborliness, interethnic harmony, trust and mutual understanding will become the basis for cooperation.
"The organization will become a platform for interaction between the participating countries, contributing to strengthening the position of the Russian language as a means of communication and the development of international cooperation in the fields of education, science and culture," the conclusion says.
