August 24, Fineko/abc.az. Iran announced that it has blacklisted 45 tankers for alleged transit violations in the Strait of Hormuz, warning that action will be taken against any vessels carrying cargo associated with them.

According to Reuters, a statement issued by the Strait of Hormuz Authority of the Persian Gulf—a new entity established by Tehran to oversee the waterway—indicated that the named vessels could face fines, detention, and the confiscation of their cargo.

The restricted list includes Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs), liquefied natural gas (LNG) and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tankers, as well as clean product carriers. Several listed vessels belong to the UAE’s ADNOC Logistics and Shipping, its subsidiary Navig8 Tankers, and Saudi Arabia’s national shipping company, Bahri.

Reports indicate that any vessels engaging in ship-to-ship transfers with the blacklisted tankers may also be added to the restriction list.
