Georgia's Fuel Imports from Azerbaijan Surge Over Twofold as Russia's Market Share Shrinks

August 20, Fineko/abc.az. During the first seven months of 2026, Georgia significantly scaled up its fuel purchases from Azerbaijan, importing 90,100 tons of petroleum products valued at $88 million.

This marks a 131,1% (2.3-fold) increase compared to the same period last year.

Georgia's total fuel imports expanded by 32.7% to reach $967 million (1.05 million tons), with average per-ton costs rising from $751 to $917. While Russia retained its position as the top supplier ($292 million), its export volume dropped by 10.7%. Turkey ranked second with $135 million (+153.9%), followed by Romania at $131 million.
