August 11, Fineko/abc.az. Aluminum futures on the London Metal Exchange (LME) rose nearly 1%, reaching their highest level since June 23 after US President Donald Trump outlined new demands regarding Iran.

With peace negotiations stalling and US rate-hike expectations easing, aluminum prices have surged over 8% since late June. In Shanghai, aluminum traded 0.6% higher at $3,337 per ton.

Key Market Drivers:

  • Lowest Inventory Since 1990: LME warehouse stocks dropped to around a quarter of a million tons, marking the lowest level since November 1990.

  • Deficit Risk: European producer Norsk Hydro warned that failure to restore normal trade through the Strait of Hormuz could trigger a global supply deficit exceeding 900,000 tons annually.
