August 12, Fineko/abc.az. According to an analysis by the Verdant think tank, the UK experienced four heatwaves between May and the end of July.

The economic damage caused by the extreme heat is estimated at £510 million in May, £2.36 billion in June, and £1.5 billion in July. Production losses were the primary driver of the economic harm, concentrated heavily in the country's South East, London, and surrounding regions.

Expert Warnings and Drought Declarations:

• Outlook for 2030: According to the study, failure to take adaptive measures alongside intensifying heatwaves could drive cumulative economic losses to £25.6 billion by 2030.

• Fifth Heatwave of the Year: The UK is currently facing its fifth heatwave of the year, with temperatures expected to surpass 36–37°C.

• Official Drought Announcement: The UK Environment Agency has officially declared a drought across 71.3% of the country.
