November 21, Fineko/abc.az. Hungarian businessman Istvan Tiborc, the son-in-law of Prime Minister Viktor Orban, remains one of the possible buyers of the Russian branch of Raiffeisen Bank International (RBI).
ABC.AZ informs that Der Standard writes about it. According to the newspaper, the issue of the deal was discussed by Orban and U.S. President Donald Trump in early November.
According to the publication, American structures express concern about the political role of Orban's son-in-law and Hungary's generally pro-Russian course, in connection with which Orban sought opportunities to personally enlist Trump's support. At the same time, according to the newspaper, Tibor's candidacy is actively supported in Russia, including in the Central Bank.
Der Standard's sources also report on the second contender, a consortium of Russian and Western entrepreneurs, whose Russian participants are not included in the sanctions lists. This group is allegedly interested in buying around 30% of RBI's Russian business.
